Chopard

The Chopard manufacture was founded by Louis-Ulysse Chopard in 1860 in the tiny village of Sonvillier in the Juar mountains of Switzerland. in 1963, it was purchased by Karl Scheufele, a goldsmith from Pforzheim, Germany, and revived as a producer of fine watches and jewelry.

The past seventeen years have seen a breathtaking development, when Karl Scheufele’s son, Karl-Friedric, and his sister, Caroline, decided to create watches wit in-house movements, thus restoring the old business launched by Louis-Ulysse back in the nineteenth century.

In the 1990, literally out of nowhere, Chopard opened up its watchmaking manufacture in the sleepy town of Fleurier. Since 1996, the company has created no fewer than nine manufacture calibers, reassembled to create more than fifty watch variations ranging from the three-hand automatic to the tourbillion. The aim of Chopard’s Fleurier Ebauches SA is to revive the long-standing tradition of ebauche production in that town.
